Wick – the heart of candle
In many cultures and beliefs, the candle is directly associated with the human body (wax), spirit (wick) and soul (fire). The wick of a candle is like the heart of a candle, whose beating also depends on the quality and speed of the burning of the candle. Properly selected wicks, their material, their thickness and their relation to the shape of the candle and the wax used guarantee a quality result. The candle then burns evenly, without forming a “tunnel”, leaving no wax slopes on the sides of the candle. Most often, when choosing a candle we think about its shape, color or smell, but we forget the most important thing – wick.
Our soybean wax candles have been tested by many manufacturers, not just one type, but none of them met our requirements and quality standards. Searching for wicks has stunned us to Italy, a small town in the north, where family businesses have been nurtured by skilled wick makers since the 1960s. Working together, we tested the entire palette of wicks of various compositions (cotton, cotton and paper, linen), shape (flat, braided, twisted), thickness until we finally found the wicks of required thickness, strength, density and composition that we now use for our soy wax candles.
Handmade soy wax rune candles are cast today using cotton and linen kneads firmly tied to the pancreas, as candlestick masters of the past centuries have done. The wick of this composition and shape is best absorbed by wax and does not form a charred cap which, when lit, emits an unpleasant odor of burns. Our wicks made in Italy meet the highest quality standards, are made from 100% natural materials and are therefore safe to use. They do not contain lead or other noxious metals that are common in candle wicks. The poisonous lead core allows the candle to burn well, but emits extremely dangerous substances. By burning our candles with natural cotton and linen knots, you can be calm about these side effects.
The wooden wicks used in the scented candles are also chosen so that the candle does not burn unburnt wax, so that the candle is only cleaned well after its “life”. The warmth and light touch of the wooden wick create a cozy and special atmosphere.
Here are some practical tips for burning candles to keep your eyes and heart happy:
Candles are better lit with matches. Our candles bring more than just practical benefits. Along with each handmade candle, you get a simple magic ritual that we believe can change the course of your life. In magic, no lighters are used – an unnatural source of fire.
It is advisable to burn the candle at least until all the wax on the surface of the candle melts and a liquid wax lake forms.
The candles should be extinguished with a special cap. By blowing out a candle, you can not only pour out, “blast” the wax, but also “offend” the fire element.
Following these few simple rules will make candles last longer and delight you and your loved ones.
