Amber

Amber, often referred to as ambergris or amber oil, is a highly valued substance in both perfumery and magical practices.

Ambergris, a solid, flammable, waxy substance produced in the digestive system of sperm whales, is often called “floating gold.” Usually found floating in the water or washed ashore in tropical countries, it’s highly prized by the perfume industry for producing expensive perfumes. This waxy, odorous substance is lighter than water and can float in the sea for years, hardening under the influence of salty water and sun. When kept in a hermetic container, ambergris gives off a strong musky scent, highly valued by perfumers worldwide and used as an aphrodisiac since ancient times.

Natural ambergris is formed when sperm whales consume large quantities of cephalopods, such as squid, which have sharp, indigestible beaks. The whale’s digestive system secretes a substance, possibly bile, to protect its intestines from the sharp beaks. Over time, this substance mixes with other gastrointestinal secretions and forms into a solid mass, which the whale eventually regurgitates or excretes. This mass, initially soft and foul-smelling, gradually hardens and takes on a more pleasant odor as it ages and interacts with the sea environment.

In perfumery, both natural ambergris and synthetic amber compounds are used to add depth, warmth, and complexity to fragrances, often serving as base notes. The smell of ambergris is characterized by a unique, invigorating evening musk aroma with oriental notes, making it one of the most highly prized ingredients in perfume creation.

In magical and spiritual practices, amber is believed to possess protective and healing properties. Used in amulets, talismans, and rituals, it’s thought to ward off negative energies and attract positive vibrations, symbolizing luxury and bringing courage, strength, and good fortune to its wearer.

Overall, amber holds a significant place in perfumery and magical practices, cherished for its alluring scent, fixative properties, and perceived mystical qualities. Whether used to create captivating fragrances or harness spiritual energy, amber continues to captivate and inspire across cultures and traditions.

    • Natural incense NORNS (mix for men)

      7,00

      In Norse mythology norns are female beings that rule the destiny of a child when it is born. In their function they are similar to Greek Moirai. They live under the roots of the destiny tree Yggdrasill, everyday they pour over them the water from the Well of Urðr and on these roots they carve the destiny of each human. We believe that this natural hand-made cedar, nards and ambergris incense will help to:

      • Guide the events towards a favorable direction;
      • Give you confidence in yourself and your powers;
      • Inspire you for new challenges, ideas, originality and resourcefulness;
      • Overcome obstacles and achieve your goals.

      The gods, alike humans, have their own root on the tree of life that norns carve their destinies on. However, even the gods cannot influence decisions of norns, therefore when asking for favors they should be addressed directly to the norns Urðr, Verðandi and Skuld.
